Digital Learning Path: Using AI in Your Studies

The digital learning path “Using AI in Your Studies” was developed by the Center for Digital Teaching and Learning at the University of Graz. It is primarily aimed at students of all disciplines and teaches basic skills for the critically reflective and responsible use of artificial intelligence.

For students:
In around 5 hours of self-study, you will learn what generative artificial intelligence is, how it works, and what opportunities and risks it presents in your studies and beyond. Topics include dealing with chatbots, bias, law & ethics, AI & society, AI & the environment, and documentation & labeling of AI use. After a knowledge check, you will receive a certificate as proof of completion.

For instructors:
Instructors can use the course as a partial credit (equivalent to approximately 5 hours of work) in courses with continuous assessment, thus ensuring that students acquire a sound and consistent foundation in AI. The final certificate provides clear proof of achievement. The learning path is particularly suitable if you want to give your students an introduction to the topic without additional preparation.
In addition, instructors can also go through the course themselves – to get to know the content from a student perspective and gain (new) ideas for a critically reflective approach to AI in their own teaching.

All persons affiliated with the University of Graz can participate by self-enrolling directly in the Moodle course with a single click.
